It sounds easy when you’re a billionaire many times over, but it’s quite doable for everyone else.<\/h2>\n

Over 20\u00a0years ago, at a\u00a0lecture<\/a>\u00a0he gave at the\u00a0University of Florida’s school of business, an MBA student asked\u00a0Warren Buffett<\/a>\u00a0a question: “What would you do to live a\u00a0happier life\u00a0— if you could live all over again?”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Buffett<\/a>\u00a0encouraged\u00a0students to think about happiness from a more practical standpoint: None of us can live life all over again, but we can increase our overall happiness by choosing to make changes in our career, goals, finances, health, and relationships.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“The way to do it is to play out the game and do something you enjoy all your life,” he said. “Be associated with people you like. I only work with people I like. If I could make $100 million\u00a0with a guy who causes my stomach to churn, I’d say no.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He continued: “I urge you to work in jobs you love. You’re out of your mind if you keep taking jobs that you don’t like because you think it’ll look good on your r\u00e9sum\u00e9.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Do what you love. It sounds easy when you’re a billionaire many times over, but quite truthfully, Buffett was already doing what he loves long before he became successful.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

There are plenty of good reasons why you should heed Buffett’s advice and do what you love, including:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

1. More opportunities<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n
\n

People who do what they love are\u00a0more open to opportunities and new experiences; they\u00a0are willing to\u00a0accept challenges and take risks, and when they fail, they are much more resilient and able to bounce back up when getting knocked down.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

2. More alignment with the things you care about<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n
\n

When you do what you love, you\u00a0create alignment between your work, values, and\u00a0the things that bring you passion and purpose. This opens up new possibilities as you learn what matters most for your life and business.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

3. More motivation, which leads to your success<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n
\n

Loving what you do makes you more motivated to put in more time to get work done — the kind of work you\u00a0want<\/em>\u00a0to do, not\u00a0feel obligated to do. Your desire to be more productive is intrinsic; it comes from a\u00a0belief deep inside you that\u00a0your hard efforts will make a difference for\u00a0those you serve.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
